City of Marseilles Wastewater Treatment Facility
Constructed in 1938 as a single structure Imhoff Tank, the City of Marseilles North WWTF has evolved into a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant, serving the residents of Marseilles for nearly a century. Capital improvements projects in 1968, 1974, 1990, 2010 and 2019 have assisted the City and its staff to meet the ever changing community needs and IEPA and USEPA regulations.
The WWTF has a design average flow of 1.23 MGD with design maximum flow of 3.15 MGD. In the event of heavy rainfall events, the WWTF has 0.687 MG of storage within its First Flush tank, with another 9 MGD pumping capacity via the City of Marseilles’ Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO).
